FAQs
Do I have to be on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter to access the community? Nope! Educational content is hosted in Teachable, and the community is hosted in a private community hosted through Mighty Networks.
Is this program for suitable for young students? No. All participants must be at least 18 years of age.
How much time will this program take? You can watch the educational content, attend (or watch the replay of) the group calls, and participate in all the accountability check-ins in just 3-4 hours per month. You are welcome to spend more time in the online community, but that is to your discretion. Novel Resolution is purposely designed to give you solid information in a short time frame so that you spend the majority of your writing time actually WRITING.
Will Novel Resolution work for me if I am writing something other than a novel? Novel Resolution is designed primarily for writers of commercial and genre fiction (NO erotica or horror). It is open to those writing for adult, young adult, and middle grade audiences. If you are writing a memoir or biography, then the program might work for you - please use the contact form on my website (linked below) to ask about your situation and I will tell you the pros and cons based on your specific project. Novel Resolution is not a good fit for those writing board books, picture books, early readers, early chapter books, short stories, essays, poetry, nonfiction that is not memoir or biography, or collections.
Will Novel Resolution work for me if I have already written my first draft? Yes. We have participants across various stages of the book-writing process, and the program integrates lessons and coaching in a way that is relevant for both drafters and revisers. Use the contact form on my website (linked below) if you would like to ask questions about your specific circumstances.
May I write more than one novel? May I write a half novel? Of course! The program is structured to help writers plan, draft, and complete the first revision of their novel by the end of the calendar year. Having said that, each writer is different. Maybe you'll focus on finishing your first draft in 2025. Maybe you'll focus on revising your novel until it's ready to pitch. Maybe you'll work quickly to write a full series. Novel Resolution focuses on helping you reach your personal writing goals. We will support you along the way!
When may I join? Enrollment is open January 6-17, 2025. After that, enrollment will be closed until January 2026. Because everyone joins together in January and ends together in December, it allows us to form a strong, cohesive cohort for the entire calendar year.
Can you guarantee I will finish writing my novel? Nope. Only you can determine what you can finish or not (and sometimes life likes to make things interesting as well). Novel Resolution will provide you with resources, support, and accountability to give you a better chance of reaching your goals, but only you can take action to get it done.
Will I receive written feedback on my work? This program comes with three personalized coaching opportunities. All participants will receive written feedback on their Story Foundations and a three-page outline (or summary) of their story. In addition, each writer will be able to schedule one half hour private coaching call about halfway through the year. Between May and October, we will have weekly drawings as part of our accountability check-ins and the winner winner will receive written feedback on ten manuscript pages, but this is not guaranteed for every writer. If you are looking for consistent feedback on your writing, then consider private book coaching.
How long do I have access to the materials? You will have access to the educational content in Teachable and the private community through December 31, 2025.
How many people will participate in the 2025 Cohort? Hard to say. Eight people joined in 2023, and twelve joined in 2024. Regardless of enrollment size, measures will be taken to ensure a "small group" feeling of community.
